AEDs & Defibrillators for Dental and Physician Offices
As Health Care in the US has improved, the average age of people has increased dramatically. By 2030, the number of persons aged 65 and older in the US is expected to double to 70 million, one out of every five Americans. This means that dental and primary physician offices will have to adapt to patients with more demanding health needs such as the risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) during a patient visit.
Some states require that dental offices be equipped with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for responding to SCA victims such as in the State of Florida in 2006. Also, many dental professionals are voluntarily purchasing AEDs for their offices as a standard of care for their patients. Most states require primary physician offices to have an Automated External Defibrillator or fully functional crash cart defibrillators for use general anesthesia or unconscious sedation.
